Barron Memorial Trophy

The Barron Memorial Trophy is one of the longest-standing competitions at Castlefields.The club purchased the Trophy in memory of their late treasurer, Ken Barron, who died in June 1962. First played in autumn 1963, it was moved earlier in the year following the discontinuation of the Rowden Cup.
It was a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and the early starters were rewarded with a surfeit of bacon sandwiches due to a overestimate from Sharon. Unfortunately, there were a few near misses with badly struck shots and no shouts, so something to remember for future weeks, please. Obviously, Brian Goldspink's holiday had included plenty of golf as he shrugged off the jet lag to beat his brother by a single shot and Keith wasn't too far back either. Darren Jennings took the prize for best gross with 64.
