Captain's Day
Saturday 26th June
Our oldest surviving competition for which a trophy has always been presented is the Captain's Cup, (also known as the Captain's Bowl and the Captain's Prize), which dates back to 1947. Three different trophies have been used, with the current one being donated by Jim Briggs in 1992. The winner is the member with the best net score over 36 holes.
Just like last year, we were very lucky with the weather - just a very brief light shower and a warm day. Samuel Hardcastle got the day off to a great start with a hole-in-one on the 5th. Also off to a flyer was Ian Haley who led after the first round with a net 44 and although he could not maintain that pace all day, he had a steady round of 54 in the evening to win very comfortably from Ian Jackson who had the best second round with a net 49.
The Captain presents the trophy to Ian Haley.

David Bartliff won the best gross with 60 & 71, just pipping Darren Jennings who had exactly the same scores but lost on a countback.
