Clubhouse Anniversary Trophy
Sunday 12th June
As Captain at the time of the opening of the new clubhouse on 19th June, 2004, Barry Goldspink introduced a new competition format for teams with 3 players. This was repeated in 2005 and continued since then on a Sunday close to the anniversary. Using Stableford scoring off full handicaps, 1 player scores on each of the first 6 holes, then 2 players on each of the next 6, and finally all 3 players score on the last 6.

Nine groups competed in this year’s event.

Definitely a competition of two halves!  The morning half was played in warm sunshine with just a breath of wind.  However the players turning up for the afternoon half were greeted by light rain, rain that got progressively heavier, the wind picked up and the temperature dropped.

Despite the poor weather the second and third placed posted competitive scores, but were pipped by the winning trio of Karen Bland, Keith Goldspink and Brian Goldspink with a score of 84 Points.

The full list of final scores were:-

  • Karen Bland, Keith Goldspink and Brian Goldspink:  84 Points
  • Sam Hardcastle, Paul Hardcastle and Simon Hardcastle:  83
  • Shaun Harris, Darren Brown and Richard Harris:  80
  • Andrew Dyer, Darren Jennings and Matthew Riach:  79
  • Damian Lynch, Janet Hardcastle and Terry Blackburn:  77
  • David Bartliff, Paul Goldspink and Conrad Drake:  71
  • Darren Hill, Nigel Bell and Matthew Spink:  70
  • Fred Leek, John Lynch and Charlie Tolley:  No Return
  • Alex Bottomley, Simon Bottomley and Will Tolley:  Disqualified.

There were no winners of the 2's Club, with the winnings rolling over to the June Medal.
