Castlefields Past Captains
Geoff Clayton Trophy
Wednesday 28th April
Geoff Clayton was responsible for several innovations for Castlefields captains, including the blazers, badges, and a competition for Past Captains . After he died, his wife Barbara decided a fitting tribute would be to present a trophy for the competition and it has been played every year since 1995. This is always an 18 hole medal competition and is followed by a dinner attended by Barbara and Past Captains and their wives.
This year, there was an excellent field of 17 for the golf with Richard Badrock defying his doctor to win with a 64 gross, 50 net. Runner-up was Brian Goldspink with a net 52. The good turn-out encouraged the Captain to present a best gross prize to Richard Harris with 61.
The annual dinner was held at the Globe Inn again, and as usual Barbara presented the trophy to Richard.
