Thompson Salver
Sunday 13th September
The Thompson Salver was donated by Peter and Michael Thompson in 1983 and is restricted to the winners of each division, plus those with the best gross scores in the 8 medals of the standard season. With several golfers having multiple qualifications and others being unavailable, the final entry was just 13. Particularly unlucky for Mick Bamforth who had a window broken by a wayward shot from Nik Kelly - hopefully the estate agents will have put the "For Sale" sign in the right spot to deflect future mishits.
As usual Peter placed the pins with a target in mind - 2 sub-50 rounds were required and duly submitted by the winner Simon Bottomley and runner-up Darren Brown. Despite Nik Kelly generously giving everyone else a chance for the best gross, his 65 was the best of the day - winner and runner-up are excluded from this category.
The full scores were :-
