Winter League Nine - 6th / 7th February
So a truly dramatic finale to the Winter League with more twists and turns than the Captain's putting after the Elland Dinner the night before.
Paul Goldspink's disqualification for putting his scorecard in the wash, didn't make any difference to the overall result in Division One where Conrad Drake made a poor start and then pulled it back with a great run of 18 points from 6 holes. Although he maybe got a little nervous at the end, he just managed to finish above the Captain, and with a crucial bonus point for a 2, clinched the Dvision One Title.
Division Two had looked like a one-horse race a few weeks ago, but Barry Goldspink had stayed in contention and Andrew Mowat was finding life much more difficult as a 22 handicapper. Barry had another good round, the best of the weekend, gaining 12 points and losing 4, so Andrew needed to get 4 points to stay ahead. He should have only got 3 points, meaning a play-off, but poor Donald Booth, was disqualified due to a mistake by his marker, pushing Andrew up one place and handing him the title. And the twist is - Donald's marker was Keith Goldspink. Thanks Bro!
